This will be my commitment tournament for December. Going to try and prepare myself over the next couple of days physically by eating properly, getting in a little bit of exercise, and doing a short period of daily meditation.
Looking forward to it.

fiber - good luck with the commitment quest.
You've chosen a 6-max tournament ... do you prefer 6-max tournaments? Do you feel like they work well with your style, or do you think it's a better choice specifically for your commitment tournament?
Do you have any favorite resources (articles, videos, threads, books) about 6-max tournaments? I could pretend to be asking that question for your benefit, to prompt you to think about what you can review to prepare for the event, but really I just want you to point me at something for myself. I tend to shy away from 6-max, only because I haven't played it much and don't feel like I know how to adjust properly. I like playing shorthanded at the final two tables of a tournament, I just don't feel like I know what I'm doing at the start of a tournament when the stacks are deep.
good luck with the preparation and the event...

Been sick the last couple days and not feeling much better Huge I don't really have one that I like better(6 max vs 9). I mainly choose this tourney because of the day and time. Sunday at 1pm figures to be one of the few times I won't have people in the house for December. I do however find it easier to focus while playing 6 max due to the increased amount of hands I will play. Unfortunately I do not have any resources for 6 max. That is why the idea of the poker syndicate appealed to me so much, would get me learning again. My 6 max game is not great but I find there is enough people at the lower limits that don't make the proper adjustments and play worse than I do. The last thing, I just don't go on tilt very often, maybe once or twice every 3 or 4 months. When I do go on tilt it always seems to be playing 4 to 6 handed. I really want to focus on making sound decisions every street of every hand.

Ok, pretty much ready to go. Didn't get out for the walk that I wanted but the kids are gone, did some meditation, showered and feeling fresh to grind it out all day, and most importantly got my hair braided (the 51st Key factor of winning tournament poker)
Goals for the first hour.
Assess as quickly as possible opponents betting patterns. play small ball, stab around, and stay active. don't get into any big pots where I'm not sure where I'm at/avoid tough descisions as much as possible. Don't bluff all in on the river with complete air. Pay attention to everyhand
Lets see what happens

1st hour done and spent most of it fighting off tilt.
On the 3rd hand or so I hit a gut shot on the turn and get bet into on the river when the board pairs. I'm deciding whether just to call or to raise. Because of the position of 6 max I have my HUD over my clock and time out.
2 hour plan is much the same, going to play small ball and stab away. Would like to double so I can more of a cushion and increase my range.

and I quickly shit the bed, rerasing from the SB with KQ and getting called by the original raiser with KK.

I hear ya....the cards need to cooperate. But part of the exercise is deciding if less "outside" distractions made your play better....did it?
