Steve had a great idea with The Poker Syndicate and I am impatient to carry on, I have had a few ideas how to move things forward and emailed Steve my ideas, I understand Steve is very busy at the moment and maybe has not got time to think about this project at the moment, so I will put my ideas to the group members and see what you all think.
1 Open a secure forum where the study will take place, I intend to put alot of effort into this study group, others will be expected to do the same, just lurking will not be good enough, if you want to improve you will need to work hard.
2 Commit to posting one hand history a week and agree to review a fellow members hand history a week, I had an idea how we could organise this, once a hand history is posted I will put the names of the other members into a hat and pull one out and it will be their hand history to review, this will mean everyone has a hand history reviewed by a fellow member, if a difficult spot comes up we can all discuss.
3 Start work on the factors required to become a winning MTT player, following on from the work Mark has already started, once a week we will pick a factor and study it and report back what we have found to the group.
4 Agree to study a poker book together and discuss whether its contents are good advice and if they are still relevant to todays game.
5 Agree to watch the same PXF videos, so we can review and discuss together.
This sounds like alot of hard work to commit to, but I recently read a section of a book that advices you to study about 20% the time you are actually playing poker.
Let me know what you think.

Sounds good. I had high hopes for this group and I hope that something can be salvaged out of it. I am more than willing to commit the time to make this work. Count me in.
I am definitely up for hh review. I alos would like to see joint review where the original player and the reviewer go over it together and record the session. Something similar to the pro coaching sessions on pxf.
Some of the guys still are up on skype on a daily basis. Lets pass on the word about this post and see what we get.
Maybe get a core from the original group and after we get going go back to pxf and recruit a few more.
We can do this

Rally the troops - get it going Shaun. It "was" a good idea and still is a good idea. There are some great people in this group - on skype - who just need a leader.
I apologize to all...life happens. I got hit with a sudden career change...in a good way. I was faced with an unpleasant decision right over Christmas - to either take a pay cut - or resign my position and move on. So I chose to move on and create my own company....a massive undertaking.
Unfortunately I had to leave something on the table (meaning in a 100% commission basis lots of money owed to me) which also meant no paychecks. So I've been working hard on starting my own company...literally working around the clock - with a call center overseas (meaning from 10 pm - 12 am I train them) - and a staff to hire and get up to speed in a hurry. To make a long story short - I've been swamped.
I check in from time to time but literally haven't played a hand of poker - or had time to think about it. I do know I feel like I let the group down...but don't want to see this die off. I am more than happy to pass the torch and the passwords, and help when I can - but for right now I am on the sidelines.

Good to hear from you Steve, I hope your business is a roaring success and it is understandable you have to prioritize.
As for the group, I dont think I have the experience to take on the role as leader of the ambitious project Steve started, if someone more suitable was to take the role that would be brilliant.
What I am doing is setting up a small study group for MTT players where we can help each other with our game, kind of like Steves idea with the pods, if anyone wishes to take part reply here and I will PM you.
At the moment I am thinking of a study plan along the lines of watching PXF videos and reviewing and discussing together, picking a book to study together and to review each others hand histories, maybe in the future we will look into some group coaching.

This is exactly what I am looking for. One of the things I have always noted when watching interviews with the top pros is how they would meet with other players every day for lunch or dinner. They would discuss hands from the night before and the strategy involved. Negreanu and others always credit this interaction with improving their game.
Another thing I would like to see is live coaching during a game. I do not know the ethics of this but if it is allowed it could be fantastic.
I am certainly glad to see there is still some interest in this idea. Let's get it going

I just got back from Vegas and I'm interested in continuing. I should have some time for poker-study during March, and then hopefully I'll be traveling in April for the EPT in Italy and Monte Carlo.

Hi Shaun, Steve and other members,
Here is my two cents.
First of all I was really excited about the hole syndicate. Didn't have really clear picture how and what syndicate will do but i was on board 100% as Steve sold the idea well. And we got flying start. And then like most of the times life put its spoon in to the soup.
Syndicate as we know it is mostly Steve's baby, forum, skype, pods, tiers, and collecting and approving members. He put this together and the members contributed, some more some less. There was/is good structure, plan, modern tools, good mix of experience, some facilitating power and a lot of members. Only thing which was missing was the backup, what if- scenario.
I have learned a lot and I have also learned that I need to learn much more. My humble opinion is that the 50 factors is the key stepping stone to become a solid level 3+ player over the longer period of time. There is a huge amount of information available but to find, process, tag and use it needs library, like 50 factors.
And to fill the 50 factors template with relevant information it needs members, structure, dedications, work, time, leadership and open discussions. And this is work where you don't get direct pay check only improve your skills over period of time but the library would be something new, slick and if any good something which would make a difference.
I would feel sad if we see syndicate to go to waste. We have been a life support mode for few months now. I do understand Steve decision- business is business and Moses is Moses. But if we will continue I would recommend to focus on the core, to the real jewel, the 50 factors library and check out if we can for it. When I do state that I don't undervalue Shaun's proposition but if the job is too big (at least for now) it might be an idea to focus on to the few most important factors. Lets say like 3-5 factors, one per week and build up the steam up again. What do u guys say, are u up to it?
Anyway, I am glad to see that Shaun has taken initiative and some members have indicated to be on board. I am very interested to hear your feedback and what the future will look like. My plan is to become a better poker player.

The Fifty factors is an ambitious plan, but one worth doing, has anyone any ideas how we as a group would aclomplish this, I thought a Wiki would be a good platform to present the information, but I have never used one, we could use this forum or set up another one so its secure or would the group like the work to be open to the public.
Also I am worried about copyright issues, for example we can link our own hand histories, but posting a link to a pros hand history or article how would this work?
