I busted out of the $5000 NAPT main event yesterday, half-way through day 1. I got it all-in on the flop with QQ on a Q-J-8 board (two spades), turned out I was up against As-Ts ... flush on the turn, brick on the river. I was a bit below average chips after 5.5 hours of mostly treading water, so doubling there would have given me a very happy stack.
Leading up to the main event I had Aces cracked in four out of four of the Venetian Deep Stack events I played. Actually in one of them I had Aces cracked early, and then later had Aces against AQo all-in preflop and chopped a big pot when we both made the wheel, then flopped top two pair and got tons of chips in on the flop and the turn against an idiot calling me with a gutshot that got there on the river. I've never had such a miserable series of crucial key hands. Maybe I should play in the $25,000 buyin high-roller event to see if I can get quads cracked.
Playing the Venetian Deep Stack event again tomorrow, because I love the pain or something...
