It was going to come up sooner or later. Let's all get on a similar page with what HUD stats we should be using, and come up with the poker syndicate standard hud...
I'll start with mine:
VPIP/PFR/3bet FFCB/Hands
I keep mine very simple because you don't get large sample sizes on a lot of guys and the stats that converge fastest are VPIP and then PFR. so those two are pretty reliable. After that I think how often someone is 3 betting really helps you with their re-shove range and helps you stay out of trouble open/folding a lot vs them. And the other stat I just added is fold to cbet. I wont use this one as much unless I have over 100 hands and their on either extreme. But that's it, simple and easy to look at. I also have hands...
Anyone think there are other stats we need on there or that I have that we don't need?

from the discussion today in the podcast, I think we're going to find a variety of feelings about using HUD's or not, let alone which stats to use. My guess is that the only stats that are marginally safe to use as sort of standard accepted notation are VPIP/PFR, so that if you say "the guy was 34/22 so I really didn't feel like I could fold AJ there" people will probably know what you mean, but if you want to refer to other stats you're just going to have to explicitly name them.
Don't get me wrong - I'm not ashamed to say I'm a HUD addict, and I would love to talk about what other stats people use and how they set up their HUD and how to filter the data, etc. I just think that in terms of throwing numbers around, that probably the only widely understood ones are going to be VPIP/PFR.

I'd be interested in HUD discussion for sure. I got HEM about 2 months ago so I'm still trying to figure things out.
I have the same but also included 3 bet. vpip/pfr/3bet

I know they have videos on the HEM website ... has anyone watched them? I've been too lazy so far, but I'd really like to work on getting the most out of my HUD.

Got an email back from HEM...they are working on jumping into to a group discussion to answer questions, talk turkey, latest features.
Also recommend once we get a kitty established, maybe we could sponsor one HEM expert (Huge interested) whom we pay a membership - in turn he must teach the rest of the group what he has learned and pass down the info in a tight format.
I believe the Jackson five learned music this way...lol!

Hey steve - didn't realize you had been in touch with HEM guys. Brent called me this morning and he said he's gonna come on the podcast in Jan. I think we have an opportunity here to influence some of the development priorities - obv they mainly focus on cash games right now but he showed me some of the add ins they are developing for HEM and it seemed to me we could def influnce that. For example they want to incorporate something like sitngo wiz and also something which maps pf ranges etc. I think if we find areas that HEM could but doesnt support MTT play as we develop our framework we should share with them.

Hey Steve -
Thanks so much for the gracious offer, I am sure we would be interested. In order to confirm and determine who the best person to discuss our product would be, I will need to forward your email to some of my superiors. Please feel free to contact me directly at andrew@holdemmanager.net
Cheers,
Andrew Hold'em Manager
Yes, I guess its my nature - call the top - and ask for help. I did explain our podcast is starting to get noticed by PXFer's and we have a great test group here...are you okay with me allowing you to be our "point of contact" with Holdem Manager...would love to have them on our show...we should discuss...
Again - just shows the power of the syndicate, we can get experts from HEM interested in talking turkey with us.
Once we continue to show our dominance in learning MTT play - we can bring other experts into the fold.
I left sklansky, malmuth an invitation to debate intuition vs logic and as yet they are ducking me - no answer....we'll see.
