On the Satellite Huge... Just to be clear they run from like 11 am EST to 1 pm EST at Pokerstars as 5$ Rebuy to 50 k Guarantee or something to that effect. The 1 pm EST has 9 seats added to it - so that REALLY REALLY HELPS. I think I run well in that one - maybe 50/50 in the 12:50 EST one which is much tougher based on field size (not as many donkeys) and payouts (less in the pot means less to pay out). For those that can do it - the absolute money tourney is the 1 pm EST one. As you commented - the Added Seats (9 seats Added) means that PS is putting in an extra $500 bucks so that makes a world of difference. I play once or twice a week - at 1 pm EST on Stars in the 5$ rebuy - I buy in - 2x buy. Also at 12:50 EST is a SAT (but no seats added) with about 100 runners..little tougher. I think Steve realized that I mixed up the sat start time with the target tournament start time - I fixed it in my post now - the juicy 9-seats added tournament is at 1PM EST. I'll clarify his post to say that the sat allows unlimited rebuys - Steve talked about taking one rebuy and the addon, but you could do more or less than that. Obv you have to be careful about going crazy in the rebuy period in a satellite like this or you might end up losing money even if you win the satellite. Because it's a satellite and because you get more chips (1500) for the addon than you do for the rebuy (1000), it might be technically correct in terms of ROI to not take the rebuy right away, try to minimize the number of rebuys you take but taking a couple of rebuys if you have to to get to the addon - if you did that, some days you'd be in for $10.50, other days $15 or $20, hopefully never more than $25. And obviously you could just make it a policy that you'll never pay more than $15 or whatever. There's also a $1-rebuy sat for the same tournament at 2PM EST with 5 seats added. In that one because the ratios are different, you *could* play it a bit like a rebuy-maniac and probably have +EV - be willing to gamble it up in the beginning to build a stack, and if it takes you 7 or 8 rebuys before you double up a couple of times, so be it. I would guess the level of play in this one would be even worse. (I wonder if we should move this discussion to another forum so that we don't get into long digressions into specific strategy discussions in the middle of the week-one feedback thread? I leave that to our fearless leader/administrator to decide)

Thanks for sharting Steve - see you in the 1pm EST - gotta try this.
I generally play the $11.70 double shopotouts for the Sunday Mill and then just use the tourney dollars for other events. I think I've made a good return on these over the piece - first table is generally 4 ot 5 handed. Some tough regs do these all day though so table draw is is key and obv a bit of a lottery. I think they're good value though.

lol being a total overlay whore I couldn't help myself and am also playing the $5R sat along with the $109 $40k guaranteed. Funny to be playing a $109 and a satellite into a $55 at the same time, but hey free equity is free equity.
Hopefully we'll all cash...

Thats a fun satellite guys. I was very interested to see only half of the 360 players left after rebuys took the add on?? Seems strange. I only bought in $5 intending to build a crazy image and try to double up intending to have a dbl RB if I blew the 1000 starting stack. I think this works quite well coz if you dbl up ur only paying $10 with the add on for a $55 cash. If you don't your'e still only paying $20 and u def get paid when / if u pick up a hand. Highly recommend it

OK just when I was feeling pleased with myself for winning a seat at the end of my daily session and closing up to watch some TV - the $55 tournament table popped up!!!!
It's a really really good idea to unregister immediately if you don't have time to play it. I can't imagine anyone else being that stupid but I'd thought I'd share just in case.

Fuck me what have I done - I use to be money - now i got Strike1 and McLucky stealing my 40$....should of kept quiet. lol. just to be clear - I bubbled it, so don't blame me - I probably gave it away, too - maybe could have folded into the money, but got all-in with A6 vs 95 and lost to a short stack, leaving me with 4 antes, then with 2.01 antes left I picked up 88 and decided to go with it rather than pray for two more hands, and lost to Q3 or something. One of the weirdest ends of a tournament I've had. I'm pretty sure McLucky squeaked in as the shortest stack when the bubble burst, which I think is a double moral victory.

nice...not sure if you heard me but I said it wasn't real poker....it's almost like last man standing .... wait it out ...
Some guys play those religiously and when you start to realize how little gambling goes on at the bubble by the Vets - you're on to something.
I use this - no math involved but seems to help figure out where I am in relation to winning a seat. For whatever reason it works for me....don't math me with "that's stupid"...
IF I am 34th and top 80 pay...with 145 left. I work out the difference between 145 ....34th to get the "bigbamboom" relative finishing position if I didn't play a hand.
Since you brought up Sklansky bucks....
so in that situation I'll finish 89th and miss out by 9 spots meaning I have to get it in one time to get my ticket.
Sometimes it comes down to your table position as the 3k/6k blinds hit 4500k stacks and they are allin with any 2.
On top of that...you look for players with 9k+ late who know that even AA is not worth playing cause they are guaranteed a SAT ticket, some will basically shut er down - so you can push any 2 on them in those situations if they arise.
EXCITING ....

Thanks potblack - that's a good addition to the satellite library, and I've added it to my post in the other forum so they're all in the same place.

Hi Mark and peers
Mark, I have read and reread you paper. I think it is excellent tool to move forward. There are areas which I didn't fully understand but overall structure is good. Of course, as we go forward we might find that some structural changes are in order but I do think that are not able to get sidetracked if we use this format.
I would like to add a topic, which I feel is pretty important. Before the start of the tournament and before every hand dealt you should have a plan. I find myself too many times just playing a hand without really thinking about the circumstances or impact of outcomes.I want to point out that plan is the important but not carved to the stone. It is kind list of what if's and very adjustable but still there. This topic might also help us or at least me to weight the different factors meaning in this type of situation I need to master 3bet or re steal tools to play good.
I think that overall challenge is the size and number of areas to cover. As we are gonna use collective force to search/combine/ summarize different topics we truly need some facilitating knowhow. It might be good that all pods would have similarities when presenting the outcomes that it would be easy to grasp the core of the topic.
My two cents,
Eemil
